The I-45 Coalition was formed to address issues related to new potential construction in the area Interstate 45 near downtown Houston, Texas. We strongly believe that any construction or improvements on I-45 must comply with these 3 tenets:

  • No expansion beyond the existing right-of-way

  • Alternative means of transportation must be explored

  • No negative impact on the neighborhoods quality of life.

How You Can Help
Donate Money
No one involved with the I-45 Coalition gets any payment for their involvement.  Everyone is a volunteer who donates their time & energy in an effort to protect their homes and neighborhoods.  We try to reduce costs whenever and wherever we can, but there are costs associated with the organization.  Here are some of them: 

  • Website - $10 per month / $120 per year

  • Signs for Public Meetings -        $100 - $200+

  • Flyers for Public Meetings -       $50 - $100+

  • Copies for Public Meetings -      $50 - $100+

  • Postage for mail outs for Public Meetings - $200+

  • Will we need funds for attorneys? .. we hope not

  • Will we need funds for environmental impact studies?  Traffic studies?  .. we hope not

Could you help pay for a couple of months of the web site?   ..how about 6 months?  …how about 1 year? Signs for Public Meetings?  50% of the cost of signs?  Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated!

Attend Meetings

Key Meetings / Public Meetings  Key meetings might include a TxDOT public meeting, or a Town Hall meeting held by our elected politicians. High attendance at these types of meetings is vital, as that sends the message to TxDOT and our elected officials that we are concerned about I-45’s impact on our neighborhoods. The more people who attend these meetings, the better for our cause and the stronger message we send.

I-45 Coalition Steering Committee Meetings  Are you interested in being involved in a more concentrated manner?  Would you like to have input in the direction and scope of the I-45 Coalition?  The I-45 Coalition Steering Committee holds meetings every other month.  Meetings are held more often as deemed necessary.  If you are interested in attending these meetings, please contact Jim Weston, I-45 Coalition President, at jim@i-45coalition.org
